Diether Ocampo

A hunk with plenty of beefcake and brains, Diether Ocampo is a model, TV and film actor and part of the Philippines entertainment industry.

Born on 19 July 1976, Diether admits he is shy, weird and sexy. When asked why he entered the movie business, he says he didn’t want to be a bum forever! At the age of 20, he auditioned for the ABS-CBN talent search in 1996. And, within a year and half, he worked in the Star Circle Batch II. In 1997, he made his first film appearance in ‘Calvento Files’. He has also modelled in commercials for brands such as Palmolive, PLDT, Jolt Cola and Goldilocks.

The Talent Centre director at ABS-CBN, Johnny Manahan, advised him to use Ocampo, his mom's maiden name. Diether is the eldest child in a brood of three, and describes himself as a reluctant actor. He says he never imagined himself acting before the cameras and dislikes being public property, though he understands it is the price of stardom.

It was during college time that he became interested in music and soon formed a garage/alternative rock band with his other campus friends. He took acting classes with Peque Gallaga before he plunged into acting fulltime.

Diether Ocampo attributes his flourishing acting career to Johnny Manahan and he is quite satisfied with the way his career is shaping up. He has been able to achieve almost everything he planned to do in the last five years. He has acted in many popular TV soaps such as ‘Gimik’, ‘ASAP’, ‘Super Laff-in’, ‘Mula sa Puso’, ‘Okat Tokat’, and ‘Star Drama Presents’.

Besides this, he has been able to make a smooth transition from TV to films with hits such as ‘Calvento Files the Movie’, ‘Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita’, ‘Magandang HatingGabi’, ‘Soltera’, ‘Gimik: The Reunion’, and ‘Bukas na lang kita Mamahalin’. Diether also owns two restaurants Cilantro Restaurant and Oregano Restaurant (Malate). He is an amateur photographer and enrolled at the Yamaha School of Music to learn classical guitar. However, all these activities have taken a backseat due to his rising popularity in show town and flourishing acting career!
